Client: Tarachand Hospital
Location: Pune, Maharashtra. Area = 0.46 ha.
With the increasing cost of energy and limitation on generating funds, Tarachand Hospital had to audit its energy consumption to keep its expenditure under control. The aim of the project was to suggest alternatives for lighting to reduce the energy consumption without compromising on the quality of environment. Method prescribed by ECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code) was adopted. Application of this code to the hospital building drastically reduced the energy consumption (by almost 41%). On site daylight readings and software simulations (Ecotect) were carried out. Detailed analysis was made for parameters like Building Envelope, Daylight, Artificial Lighting, HVAC and gaps were identified. Finally strategies were formulated for Energy Efficiency of the hospital.
